Calvin Coolidge once said, “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” He’s right!
It makes no difference who you are, where you came from, or what your current status in life happens to be. What matters is do you have goals and the perseverance and commitment to reach them. Life gets very difficult. Tough times will make you want to give up. This is where you decide to be different from the unsuccessful, the underachiever, and the quitter. This is where you take God’s hand and keep pressing.
Don’t focus so much on the presence but look to the joy of what awaits you when you make it to your goals. The apostles Paul said, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Through your troubles, be patient, pray to God, and focus on the joy ahead. This will help you to persevere and keep your commitment strong.
